ARS Convention Raises $17,750 for ‘Sponsor Syrian Family’ Campaign

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—The 93rd Convention of the Armenian Relief Society (ARS) Eastern Region focused on assisting Syrian Armenians affected by the war. Members of the convention were disturbed to hear that  thousands of Armenian families in Syria are currently struggling to buy food, as food prices have skyrocketed to unprecedented levels. During this period of extreme need, more than 400 Armenian families in Syria, especially in Aleppo, have been identified by the ARS of Syria as being in dire need of immediate assistance. Acting quickly, the Convention adopted a resolution to start a program to “Sponsor a Syrian Armenian Family” with an annual amount of $1,200 for each family.

The ARS Eastern Region is committed to stand by our Syrian brothers and sisters living in areas of conflict. In response to the news from friends and relatives that are affected, and in support of the passage of the new resolution, delegates and chapters pledged over $17,750 in less than 30 minutes.

The ARS Eastern Region now calls on the greater Armenian community to support the “Sponsor a Syrian Armenian Family” campaign.
