ARS of Eastern USA Mayr Chapter Welcomes New Members

NEW YORK, NY—Armenian Relief Society (ARS) Mayr Chapter held its 26th annual membership recruitment social on March 24 at Mrs. Janet Marcarian’s beautiful home. Ungh. Lalig Vartanian, Chairperson of Mayr Chapter Executive Board thanked Mrs. Marcarian for graciously hosting the event. She warmly welcomed the guests and then invited liaison Ungh. Sandra Vartanian, VP of ARS Eastern US Board.

Ungh. Sandra gave an overview of the ARS Eastern Region’s ongoing projects and she enlightened and encouraged everyone to attend the ARS Eastern Region’s Seminar to be held on April 6 in Watertown, MA. She added that in July, the 99th ARS Eastern US Annual Convention will also be held in Watertown, MA. She commended Mayr Chapter for always being present at the conventions and supporting all the projects through fundraising.

Then she officiated the membership swearing ceremony of two new members: Ungh. Lolita Babikian and Ungh. Talene Nigdelian. The new recruits were pinned with ARS logo pins.

The Ungerouhies spent a delightful afternoon, learning more about the ARS and its projects in the US, Armenia and Artsakh. Everyone enjoyed the lovingly prepared homemade dishes by our Ungerouheener over a very friendly social atmosphere.

The afternoon ended with a surprise report from one of our guests Miss Armine Babikian, a graduate of HMADS, a young lady who had spent nine months in Armenia as an occupational therapist, interning with Birthright Armenia and Children of Armenia Fund (COAF) to provide therapy services to children with disabilities in the rural villages of Armavir and Aragatsotn regions.
