Jack is Back: See Art of Dr. Kevorkian on Display at ALMA

WATERTOWN, Mass.—“The Doctor is Out: The Art of Jack Kevorkian” is back on display for a limited time at the Armenian Library and Museum of America (ALMA) in Watertown, Mass., offering visitors a second look at the man perhaps best known for his death with dignity practices.

Kevorkian at the Armenian Library and Museum of America in October 2008.

A selection of Kevorkian’s personal memorabilia and 14 of his dramatic creations, including social commentary paintings, a triptych, and a multimedia piece about the Armenian Genocide, are among the pieces featured in this provocative exhibit.

Kevorkian traveled to the museum in 2008, where he marked the exhibit’s unveiling with a special gallery talk about the inspiration behind his art and his campaign for U.S. Congress to a crowd of more than 300 people. Footage from his appearance can be seen in the new HBO documentary “Kevorkian.” Check local listings for schedule.

ALMA is open to the public Friday through Sunday from 1-5 p.m. and Thursday from 6-9 p.m. Admission is $5 per adult; $2 per student; free for ALMA members. For information on taking a guided tour, call (617) 926-2562 ext. 4.

ALMA is located at 65 Main St. in Watertown. Metered parking is available in the municipal lot behind the museum.
