Syrian Forces Now in Near-Complete Control of Aleppo

ALEPPO, Syria (A.W.)—Syrian forces have gained control of nearly all of Aleppo, after gaining control of two more rebel-held neighborhoods in the eastern part of the city on Dec. 12. According to several news outlets, forces loyal to the Syrian government now control up to 98% of the city.

Over the last few days, news began emerging that opposition fighters were contemplating a deal to evacuate Aleppo. On the night of Dec. 11, it was reported that the withdrawal from Aleppo had Russian and U.S. backing. According to Reuters, under the terms of the deal opposition forces would be allowed to leave to any area in Syria bearing light arms.

Aleppo has been divided between opposition and government forces since 2012.

The Armenian Weekly will provide more coverage from Aleppo in the coming days.

  1. This is indeed great news.

Thank God for the Obama administration and the Great Hillary for helping liberate Aleppo and saving Syria from the ‘opposition’ (aka ISIS terrorists, aka terrorist cannibals, aka terrorist head-choppers,…).

One wonders where are the alleged great friends of Syrian-Christians and Syrian-Armenians in all this?
    Where are they hiding?
What happened to all the that Russian Orthodox Christian stuff?

Good thing USAF and NATO were there all along providing air-support to SAA to defeat thems ISIS. Otherwise Syrian Christians and Syrian Alawites and (majority) moderate Syrian Sunnis would be wiped out.

    Hillary for POTUS!.

  2. We hope the Armenian Community in Aleppo, Syria will be safe guarded since the Syrian Government has now taken over. Numerous Armenians have left not only for Armenia, but to Beirut & other countries. If the situation does get worse we pray that if Armenians have to leave that they take their wealth & belongings to Armenia and set up businesses their to give people jobs since already a million or more have left for Russia & other Countries for lack of work. When I was there in September they say the Population was down to 2.2 million people whereby others say it was less than 2 million. The corrupt Armenian Government has not solved this problem after numerous attention on this issue has been brought forward to the Government.
