App Released to Inform Public about Centennial Events in Boston

BOSTON, Mass.—The Massachusetts Committee to Commemorate the Armenian Genocide has launched an app for iOS and Android devices to inform the public on the history and legacy of the Armenian Genocide and to serve as a platform to keep the community abreast of upcoming Boston-area events and programs to commemorate this April’s Centennial of the Armenian Genocide.

The app mirrors the information found at the website in a mobile-friendly manner. Those interested are encouraged to post their events online by visiting the website and clicking on the events page. Submissions will be posted online and on the app upon approval by the webmaster. Users have the option to view either all events or those near them.

The Massachusetts Committee to Commemorate the Armenian Genocide is an umbrella organization representing all the Armenian advocacy, athletic, cultural, educational, political, religious, and service organizations in Massachusetts and the surrounding communities. The committee aims to educate the public and increase awareness of the crime and denial of genocide and the lasting effects thereto, with specific emphasis on the Armenian Genocide of 1915. It also aims to promote understanding of the Armenian Genocide through mass communications and public forums, to preserve the memory of the Armenian Genocide and its over one and a half million victims, and finally to commemorate the Centennial anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in Massachusetts. The committee will coordinate programming nationally with Washington, D.C. and internationally with the Republic of Armenia.
