St. Gregory Church Bazaar Celebrates National Cuisine

INDIAN ORCHARD, Mass.—St. Gregory Armenian Apostolic Church members will hold their annual Armenian Bazaar on Sat., Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the church hall at 135 Goodwin St., Indian Orchard.

On this day, visitors will enjoy Armenian and American foods. Lunch and dinner will be served featuring three kinds of grilled kebab—shish kebab (delicious chunks of lamb), losh kebab (specially seasoned ground lamb and beef), and chicken kebab (marinated chunks of chicken breast)—all served with rice pilaf, salad, and pita bread. For lighter fare, visitors can order lahmajun (a delicious thin-crust Armenian meat pizza), or a vegetarian plate of seasoned cracked wheat, salad, and pita bread.

A baked goods section will feature traditional Armenian breads and pastries including paghach, choerag, paklava, boerag, and kadayif, along with other Armenian foods, such as stuffed grape leaves, cheese and spinach pie, and pickled vegetables. Many favorite homemade Armenian desserts will also be available.

Raffles will feature baskets over-flowing with wonderful gifts for adults and children. Bargain hunters will also have the chance to peruse the “Forgotten Treasures” booth, filled with crafts and collectibles.

The highlight of the event will be six raffle drawings for prizes that include a 4’x6’ oriental rug donated by Charles Yenian & Co.; a men’s watch donated by Lorilil Jewelers; a mother of pearl and topaz earrings and pendant set donated by Zemanian Jewelers; an Armenian coin donated by Gary Setian; a handmade clock made and donated by Harry Setian; and one year of Megabucks lottery tickets! The drawing will take place the evening of the event; winner need not be present.

Admission and parking is free. For more information, call the church office at (413) 543-4763.
