We welcome the European Parliament’s resolution of October 24, 2024, on the “Situation in Azerbaijan, violation of human rights and international law, and relations with Armenia,” which exposes Azerbaijan’s appalling human rights record, disregard for international law and aggressive, militaristic posturing in the region and toward Armenia.
We particularly welcome the European Parliament’s call for full implementation of the International Court of Justice’s orders, engagement in constructive dialogue with representatives of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh to ensure their safe, dignified and swift return to their historic homeland, the release of all Armenian detainees in Azerbaijan and the preservation of Armenian properties and cultural monuments.
Securing the collective return of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh to their homeland through genuine negotiations between Azerbaijan and Nagorno-Karabakh representatives is essential for lasting peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
We urge and hope that the European Union will also make efforts to provide a platform for the commencement of these crucial negotiations, ensuring that the process is inclusive and supported by international oversight. The EU’s role is vital in facilitating dialogue and promoting a peaceful resolution to the ongoing crisis, thereby paving the way for a secure, internationally guaranteed return of the people, with full respect for their fundamental rights.

The Bible says “There is nothing new under the sun,” and although Armenians can take solace in the words from the EU, it reminds me that after everything is said and done, there is much said, but little done. I wonder if they are not echoing the words of their ancestors during Armenia’s darkest times. Armenians are a courageous people, a trait found less often in others. They need a strong friend with a strong leader. I believe that President Trump is the closest thing to that being reality. Over one hundred years ago, Theodore Roosevelt had a voice that fell on cowardly ears. We must make sure, That doesn’t happen again. God Bless Armenia!🇦🇲

The Second Artsakh War happened during the Presidency of Trump and he did nothing. He did not issue any condemnation of Azerbaijan, let alone issue any threat of sanctions. I bet he never heard of Artsakh, before the 2020 war was started by Azerbaijan. I am sure he does not know where Armenia or Azerbaijan are located and be able to find them on the map. If Trump is reelected and another war is started by Azerbaijan against Armenia during a second Trump term, it is a near certainty that he will do nothing.
Not to mention that Biden did nothing when Artsakh was blockaded, starved, ethnically cleansed and destroyed by Azerbaijan during his Presidency.
Likewise if Harris is elected, it is also very probable that she will do nothing, if Azerbaijan attacks Armenia during her Presidency, even though as a Californian, she covets the local Armenian vote.
It is not just about those guys’ party affiliation and ideologies, but also about their actual conduct once they are in power vis-a-vis their past records and kept or unkept promises.
The United States, like every country of the world, thinks about its national interests first, and does not operate on altruism and idealism, even though it pretends to do so, like every other country. This is the harsh reality of Realpolitik.
Viewing issues, politics and politicians through rose-tinted glasses, only ends in disappointment. Politics is the ultimate Machiavellian field and profession, and blindly idealizing politicians is the height of folly.
