Funeral and March Held for Murdered French-Armenian Teenager

PARIS (A.W.)—Funeral services were held this week at the Armenian Cathedral of Marseille for Michaël Assaturyan, a 16-year-old French-Armenian student who was murdered on Jan. 12, reported Nouvelles d’Armenie. An estimated 2,500 people gathered on Jan. 16 to march and mourn the loss of the teenager; sources put the number at as high as 4,000.

Among those present were Mayor of Marseille Jean-Claude Gaudin, along with Deputies Didier Parakian and Martine Vassel, Parliamentarian Valerie Boyer, Senators Jean-Noel Guerini and Bruno Gilles, Member of the French National Assembly Dominique Tian, and Councilman Garo Hovsepian, as well as leaders of the Armenian community—from clergy to political activists.

Assaturyan, who attended high school in Marseille, was killed on Jan. 12 just outside school grounds. The suspects are two brothers—17 and 18 years old—who attacked Assaturyan after their sister had an argument with him during a basketball game in gym class. Assaturyan was stabbed four times, cutting a main artery, revealed French police.

Both brothers surrendered to police. According to sources, the younger brother has a violent record that includes robbery and assault, for which he was imprisoned in 2013. Police also have the sister in custody, reported Nouvelles d’Armenie.

The march was in response to a call by the Coordination Council of Armenian Organizations of France (CCAF).

Marching down Marseille’s historic La Canebière in the old quarter of Marseille, mourners gathered at the Old Port around a large chalk drawing of an Armenian cross encircled with flowers, and the words, “Je suis Michaël” (“I am Michael”) above it. White roses in hand, some wore shirts that read “Misha,” short for Michaël; others held signs that read, “I am Michaël.”

  1. The fact that the ethnicities and/or the religion of the murderers are being concealed – smells.

Marseille has a large presence of radical Islamists, who have taken over entire neighborhoods: so-called radical Islamist “no-go” zones that have mushroomed in Christian European cities, where apparently even police are reluctant to go.

Was the Armenian young man murdered because of his ethnicity and/or Christian religion ?
Was the Armenian young man murdered by Turks living in Marseille ?
Why is the ethnicity and religion of the murderers being concealed by the French news media ?

The story being put out that he was stabbed by the brothers of some girl because he had an argument with her does not sound plausible: there surely must have been an underlying ethnic/religious hatred towards the Armenian teenager: I can’t imagine a (Christian) Frenchman stabbing someone because some guy had an argument with his sister during a basketball game.

    • “so-called radical Islamist “no-go” zones that have mushroomed in Christian European cities, where apparently even police are reluctant to go.”

I’ve been to one of these so-called “no-go zones”- in Duisburg, Germany. I have family there. The entire Muslim section of this city (100+ thousand in a city of 500 thousand) are virtually only Turks. It felt very safe and the only visible, other than the people, were the abundance of Turkish stores and restaurants. The Fox News and fearmongers of the world would tell you this is a “no-go zone” but self segregation is a reality. I grew in Atlanta, and I can tell you for a fact the police did NOT go to places in south Atlanta like College Park at night, which were overwhelmingly (90% +) black. What’s to blame? Their religion, or their culture? Those two things are connected sure, but unless you’re going to tell me Bosnia is as backwards as Saudi Arabia, the blanket “Muslim no-go zones” IF they even exist should read “Arab Muslim no-go zones”

“The story being put out that he was stabbed by the brothers of some girl because he had an argument with her does not sound plausible”

Maybe it’s because I’m from Turkey, but it sounds plausible to me. I’ve seen this story before.

  2. HOW SAD AND HORRIBLE ANOTHER ARMENIAN SENSELESSLY MURDERED AT A VERY YOUNG AGE, HOW EVIL WHO ARE THESE ANIMALS? I MOURN FOR HIM AND MY CONDOLENCES TO HIS FAMILY AND THE ARMENIANS AND HONORABLE FRENCH PEOPLE OF MARSEILLE, ASVADZ HOKIN LOOSAVOREH. WHO ARE THESE BEASTS THAT ARE BUTCHERING ARMENIANS FIRST GUMERI, NOW MARSEILLE.

  3. Another star plucked from our skies rendering it a little less bright. My condolences to the family and the community on their loss.

  4. Facts are important before we make conclusion, but there are some great points made.

I just wanted to bring to RVDV’s attention the Cyprus’ story.. the ratio @ of The Islamists Birth campaign to overpopulated the host, one area at a time until world dominance — no longer what it takes– is a REALITY that is Killing the earth’s resources slowly –never mind the suffering that it brings to the abused women (check out the suicide rates and abuses), and the overall distruction of the host countries nuanced creed (do we want the whole world in Sharia?).. How awful would the world be if everyone dressed the same, acted the same, loved the same & lived with such narrow-mindedness.
