Ani Babaian

Ani Babaian of Isfahan, Iran, holds a Master of Fine Art from Alzahra University in Tehran, where she wrote a thesis entitled “Mutual Influences, New Julfa and Isfahan Mural Paintings of the 17th Century.” She is a fine art painter who has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Iran, Armenia and US. Her latest solo exhibit is “The Spectrum of a Legacy” Armenian Museum of America, Watertown, Mass. (2016). In Iran, she also worked on numerous conservator projects, most notably murals at Saint Amenaprkich Vank in New Julfa, Isfahan. She is the author of numerous articles and presented many public talks on Armenian and Persian art. Although she was working as a conservator of mural paintings, studying and teaching art history and painted icons, she has personal style of painting which is defined by her identity, thoughts, personal experiences and the beauty around her. In 2010, Babaian moved to Massachusetts, and in 2013 she joined the NAASR staff with her primary task the ongoing cataloguing of Mardigian Library. In 2014, she was invited to Yerevan and Isfahan for a presentation on the 350th anniversary of Saint Amenaprkich Vank regarding murals, artists and new findings discovered during a recent restoration process.
