On October 2, 2020, two days after the start of the Artsakh war, a giant Azerbaijani flag was placed on the façade of Baku’s YARAT Contemporary Art Space gallery with the message: “Karabakh is Azerbaijan.”

As long as Armenians are busy with exposing corruption, dictatorship and devious clans in Baku, nothing will change in Yerevan. You may better deal with the question, why you lost 5000 young armenian boys in Artsakh/Karabagh, given the fact that you could have handovered all those territories to Azerbaijan without war and without losing thousands of young armenian lives.

I mean, he does have a point? With community leaders who thinks the best use of their time is to tell their echo chamber “azeris bad” (hint hint: we know and nobody else cares), who needs enemies? You are taking up space that someone who has something more relevant and actionable to say. Though at this point it probably doesn’t matter any longer. Keep writing then, good luck finding an audience that you have something novel to tell.

You’re Right: Klaus was giving useless advice, but I’d add that his advice is toxic.
And, Zaven, worried that we might try too hard to expose the despotism, xenophobia, and worse from Azerbaijan. Did he figure out that we can focus on more than one thing, without ignoring the issues at home. I mean: I can talk about Armenia, Artsakh, Turkey and Azerbaijan without ignoring things here in San Francisco and Glendale, California.
Keep exposing then, Laurence. Expose away. Maybe another 20 years of that and you’ll agree with me that nobody cares. Sure you can write about all kinds of things at the same time but less “azeri bad” and more “get that failed journo out of government, are you people insane, what are you doing?” in time would have yielded better (or any) positive results.

On the one hand it was to be expected that the Aliyev Clan would rage in the art scene, on the other hand it is merely shocking. It’s so disgusting!!!
