Our first photo in the U.S., Fargo airport around midnight on Feb. 1, 1992, after 48 hours of travel. Norik (far right), Irina and Anna (fifth and sixth from right), and little Mikhail crying with his back to the photo.

  1. I also remember the day when we arrived to the US in December of 1991. Our Russian speaking driver from Catholic Charities in San Diego took us to 2 bd apartment rented for us along with 4 mattresses and refrigerator filled with food supplies. He also gave us a check for $600, which felt like a lot of money for us!
This is great country, great society, where human rights are protected!

  2. We just lost Noric Astvatsaturov. He told us that night we first met the family at the airport that his goal was to get his family to safety and to a place where they could raise their children. He wanted to work and make a good home where they could grow and flourish.

He did this! And more! His family made him proud. They can be proud of him as well.

We were lucky to have been part of their arrival and were honored to have been with them them in their resettlement.

We thank God for these blessings and send love and condolences to this family.
