The Central Executive Board of the Armenian Relief Society (ARS) this week announced that the ARS Central Office’s Financial Department will henceforth be named in honor of Ungerouhi Manoushag Soghomonian, the mother of Hrair Soghomonian. A plaque bearing her name—“Ungh. Manoushag Soghomonian”—will be placed at the entrance of the department in gratitude of Soghomonian’s generous donation of $15,000 in honor of his mother.
Ungerouhi Manoushag has served in the ranks of the Armenian Relief Society since 1949, in Syria, Lebanon, and Canada. Since 1995, she has been an active member in Montreal’s “Soseh” ARS Chapter, morally and materially supporting its many humanitarian programs, and earning the affection and respect of her friends and members of the community.
Vicky Marashlian, the chairperson of the ARS Central Executive Board, expressed her gratitude on behalf of the entire membership of the ARS. She also emphasized that the century-long humanitarian service of the ARS throughout the Armenian Diaspora and the Homeland would not be possible without the generous support of benefactors like Soghomonian. Generous contributions such as this, she said, allow for the smooth and effective implementation of a variety of ARS programs.
Hrair Soghomonian is a recipient of the “Prince of Cilicia” insignia from His Holiness Catholicos Aram I.
