Garen Mouths Off

Yegparian: Preparing for November

There’s a lot coming our way on the Nov. 2 ballot, so I hope to introduce it over the course of a few articles. Each time, I’ll provide a list of what I’ve already recommended. By Election Day, you’ll have it all.

In California, there are legislative seats up, statewide races, and nine ballot propositions. I’ve already addressed two of the ballot measures (see below listing, including the name of the article). Today two more, plus governor and Senator, are on the agenda. And, we’ll hop over to a neighboring state too.

Garen Yegparian

Garen Yegparian is a fat, bald guy who has too much to say and do for his own good. So, you know he loves mouthing off weekly about anything he damn well pleases to write about that he can remotely tie in to things Armenian. He's got a checkered past: principal of an Armenian school, project manager on a housing development, ANC-WR Executive Director, AYF Field worker (again on the left coast), Operations Director for a telecom startup, and a City of LA employee most recently (in three different departments so far). Plus, he's got delusions of breaking into electoral politics, meanwhile participating in other aspects of it and making sure to stay in trouble. His is a weekly column that appears originally in Asbarez, but has been republished to the Armenian Weekly for many years.

  1. Garen,
Are you suggesting we all go vote in herds for candidates because they have good relations with Armenian communities and support the Armenian cause ? How different is that from supporting oligarchs in Armenia who pretty much shove the lies through the throats of their citizens, waist tax payers money, and push their personal agendas to increase their wealth ? Shouldn’t we as American citizens be concerned how incumbents handle the office and how they improve our personal lives in our local communities in the States ? Some of us are not happy how Democrats have handled policies while holding all the branches of Government and most elected officials gotta find the milking cow somewhere else. The special groups and their agendas have corrupted the politics of this nation. These are the same oligarchs and elitists we have in Armenia. We need candidates who live our daily lives and know the pain of an average tax payer in this country. Please read more on candidates and their families before endorsing. I am more concerned for the future of our economy and the growing debt of our nation, than supporting candidates who will sway in the direction where the pay is higher. If this country goes bankrupt, Armenian cause will go with it.

  2. Great endorsements, Garen!  Sorry to see someone posting comparing Democrats to oligarchs in Armenia.  Very sad.  Are Armenians somehow more prone to the thinking that republicans represent much beyond their base of the very wealthy?   Let us take a look at the “Commitment to America” pledge.  The top of the list is to extend the Bush era tax cuts, which primarily benefit the top 2% of income earners.  And our Armenian friend above talks about elitists?
Thanks, Garen.  YOur analysis is appreciated.
