Moscow-Yerevan Passenger Bus Involved in Deadly Accident

At Least Five Killed in Crash According to Preliminary Reports

YEREVAN (A.W.)—A passenger bus traveling from Moscow to Yerevan was involved in a tragic road accident in Vladikavkaz, North Ossetia–Alania, Russia. At least five people were killed in the crash, while more than 25 others were rushed to the Vladikavkaz hospital after suffering injuries.

The bus, which was carrying 52 passengers, collided with truck at around 4:30 a.m. on Oct. 14, according to several news reports.

Armenian President Serge Sarkisian issued a letter of condolences to the families and friends of the victims of the accident, and issued a number of instructions for state bodies.

“I learned with great sorrow the news on the night accident with the bus travelling from Moscow to Yerevan which resulted in the loss of human lives and casualties. At this grave moment, I express my condolences and support to the families of the victims, their relatives and friends. I wish a speedy recovery to all injured,” read a part of the statement.

Sarkisian instructed the Government of Armenia and Armenian Embassy in Russia to undertake urgent measures to provided necessary assistance to the victims and organize full-scale medical aid. He also instructed to provide necessary assistance to the families of those killed and injured.

Relevant bodies in Armenia were also instructed work in conjunction with Russian law enforcement to find out the causes of the accident and its circumstances and provide a comprehensive report.

The statement also reported that representatives of the Armenian Consulates in Rostov and South Russia have already arrived at the site of the accident a Russia are engaged in providing first aid to the injured.

  1. So many fatal accidents have happened on this highway that it is fair to call it the Highway of Death. So said????
