The activities of the Armenian National Committees ahead of COP29

From November 11-22, 2024, the U.N. Climate Change Conference (COP29) will convene in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, in which thousands of government delegates, journalists and representatives of various organizations are expected to participate. Azerbaijan has used this conference to mislead international public opinion about its true nature.

At the same time, this conference is an opportunity to present the real, genocidal, belligerent, totalitarian and anti-democratic nature of Azerbaijan, as well as Azerbaijan’s negative behavior in regards to climate change.

The network of Armenian National Committees and its offices has started to implement a specially developed program to reach all governmental, political, public and media circles that are in any way related to COP29. The purpose of these activities is to emphasize Artsakhtsis’ right of return and to push these circles to exert influence on Azerbaijan to change its anti-Armenian policy regarding the genocidal acts it has committed in Artsakh, its invasion of the borders of the Republic of Armenia and illegal imprisonment of Armenian prisoners and hostages.

Every Armenian who uses social media has an important role in these endeavors. The ANC appeals to everyone to post in different languages on social media using at least these four hashtags: #COP29Exposed, #COPout29, #COP29 and #COP29Azerbaijan. From this website, you can download graphics and videos prepared by the Hai Tahd network. It is very important to use the hashtags mentioned above in all posts or graphics.

The 2024 Olympic Games, which will start in Paris in the coming days, are also a good opportunity to express our views.

Luis Moreno Ocampo, the first prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, is also participating in such work on social media, in cooperation with Armenian circles. On this occasion, Ocampo concluded his message to Armenians by writing: “You have the commitment, reach and determination to lead this transformative movement. By rallying global communities, you can ensure that COP29 addresses not only climate change but also champions human rights and justice. Armenians, it is time to lead the charge. Post, comment, and use your voice. I and many others will follow you.”

Famous political figures and various international organizations have already expressed their displeasure regarding the convening of COP29 in Baku. Some have even called for a boycott of the initiative.

The ANC will continue to keep the public informed of these activities.
