ARS Hosts Dinner for AYF Convention Delegates

By Hrag Arakelian

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.—The Merrimack Valley and Lowell ARS Chapteres jointly hosted a dinner for the 77th AYF-YOARF Convention at the St. Gregory Armenian Apostolic Church of Merrimack Valley in North Andover.

(L-R) Pearl Teague, Carol Minasian, Sylvia Mahlebjian, and Pauline Kassabian.

The AYF delegates were welcomed to the community with warm hearts and open arms. The hall was full of AYF alumni, local ARF and AYF members, and Camp Haiastan campers. It felt more like a family reunion than anything else. Before the empty stomachs of the delegates were filled with all-you-can-eat delicious food prepared by the local ARS, Greg Minasian of the Lowell ARF gave a few words of advice and inspiration to the Convention delegates.

“It is because of you, Convention delegates, and your behind-the-scenes work that keep the AYF strong and continually changing for the better… Know that being an AYF member is something that will stay with you for your lifetime,” he said.

Everyone enjoyed the meal and the company of the community. Inconveniently, the tivans of the Convention reminded everyone to be back at the hotel to continue Convention by 10 p.m. I believe we recessed at 2 a.m. that night. On the bright side, the ARS gave some of the dessert leftovers, which did not last too long amongst the 40-plus delegates that night. The AYF Convention delegates thank the Merrimack Valley and Lowell ARS and community for hosting such a wonderful dinner.
