UAF Ships $33 Million in Aid in 2009

Glendale, Calif.—The United Armenian Fund (UAF) contributed $33 million of humanitarian assistance to Armenia during the fiscal year 2009, consisting primarily of medicines and medical supplies, according to the latest audit of its financial statements.

The UAF devoted less than 1 percent of its total revenues to administrative expenses, allocating the remaining 99 percent to assisting the people of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabagh, according to the audit.

During its 20 years of operations (and as of Sept. 30, 2009, the end of its last fiscal year), the UAF has delivered a total of $572 million worth of relief supplies to Armenia on board 153 airlifts and 1,726 sea containers.

The UAF is the collective effort of the Armenian General Benevolent Union, Armenian Missionary Association of America, Armenian Relief Society, Diocese of the Armenian Church of America, Prelacy of the Armenian Apostolic Church of America, and the Lincy Foundation.
