She has received awards for her writing, such as the UCI Black Lives Matter Writing Contest and “Be Heard” Calouste Gulbenkian Prize. As a community advocate, journalist and literature scholar, she has come to appreciate the versatility of language in its many genres and modes.   1. Thank you for taking the time to write this article. My father also grew up in Cyprus (Larnaca) and I have an aunt from Nicosia. After my father’s passing I’ve been trying to connect to anything that’s Cypriot-Armenian and cherish my small bottle of Zivania which reminds me of all the stories I heard about life in Cyprus. The flip side is this article also fanned the flames of anger towards the Turks for their occupation. I hope that the remaining Armenians can continue to keep their legacy alive.
