Dear All Armenian Youth,

The importance of getting out and casting your vote on Nov. 8 is not to be underestimated. Our ability to vote is a right that many Armenian-Americans have fought and died for, in battle, in order to preserve. The reason our parents and grandparents moved to the United States is because it is a great country. What makes this country so great is that we have actual say in who makes decisions that will affect our everyday lives, which may not have been an opportunity our parents and grandparents had where they grew up.

You will have the opportunity to cast a vote that will place people in power that can increase trade with Armenia so that their economy can grow like ours in the U.S. Your vote can help your state recognize that Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabagh/NKR) is a country, so that it may receive financial assistance from the U.S. Your vote can help remove those politicians in office that send millions of dollars to Azerbaijan, so that they may continue bombing Artsakh with even more advanced weaponry. Your vote can place people in power that can save our brothers and sisters from falling under ISIS control in Syria. Your vote can place those into local office who will help make it easier to pay for your school loans. Your vote can improve the chances of you landing a job you love after graduation. The list goes on and on, but for the sake of our Armenian-American communities, do not underestimate the power of your vote.

Statistically, only 20% of those ages 18-29 actually voted in 2014. Do not become a part of the 80% that lets others decide for them. As the youth, we will be the future fate of our communities and we must play an active role this election.

You may already have an opinion on who to elect on Nov. 8. For those of you who are wondering where to place your vote, you can use the list of endorsements the ANCA has constructed as guidance.  Click here for ANCA Endorsements.

Get out and vote on Nov. 8.
