Sayat Nova—Yerevan and Boston—to Perform in Joint Concert

WATERTOWN, Mass.—In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Amaras Art Alliance of Watertown, the non-profit, independent cultural organization will host a concert on Oct. 3 at 4 p.m. at the Cary Memorial Auditorium on 1605 Mass. Ave. in Lexington.

The concert will feature the Traditional Instruments Ensemble of the Sayat Nova Music School in Yerevan, Armenia, under the direction of Maestro Tikran Hekekyan. This dynamic group is traveling to the U.S. at the invitation of Amaras Art Alliance, under the auspices of the Armenian Ministry of Diaspora, and will tour Washington, D.C., New York, New Jersey, Providence, Boston, and California. The concert in Washington will be hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia.

Additionally, there will be a special appearance by the Boston-based dance company Sayat Nova. The proceeds from the event will benefit Sayat Nova School and Amaras’ Badalian Music Fund to provide scholarships to young Armenian Americans who wish to pursue a music education.

Amaras Art Alliance promotes new talents both in the U.S. and abroad. Its aim is to promote the rich cultures of the Armenian and American people, and to facilitate the exchange of ideas and expressions between these two cultures through performances, exhibits, lectures, publications, youth cultural travel tours, and special programs. The concert on Oct. 3 will be a unique and exciting opportunity to support the work of Amaras Art Alliance, and make a difference in the lives of young musicians.
