St. Illuminator’s Celebrates Feast of Holy Translators

On Sun., Oct. 18, students of the St. Illuminator’s Day School attended the Holy Badarak at St. Illuminator’s Cathedral and celebrated the Feast of the Holy Translator’s Sourp Sahag Hayrabed, Mesrob Mashdots, and their fellow translators with a program in Pashalian Hall.

During the program, the children sang and recited poems, and read the history of the invention of the Armenian alphabet and translation of the Holy Bible to Armenian (known as Takouhi Tarkmanoutyants) in the 5th century A.D., which is also known as the Armenian Golden Age.

The celebration was attended by Fr. Mesrob Lakissian, Board of Trustees member Lalig Vartanian, and School Board chairman Dr. Herand Markarian. Fr. Lakissian congratulated the students, parents, and dedicated school staff (Christine Reiglehoff, Zemi Markarian, Mary Yaralian, and Tamar Lakissian) for their work.

The cathedral’s Ladies Guild hosted a reception following the program.
