Marie Rose Abousefian

Marie Rose Abousefian is an Armenian actress, writer, researcher, poet and stage director. Her work explores historical literature, poetry, human tragedy and the Armenian Genocide, as well as themes of identity, human rights and women’s rights. She studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia, later emigrating to San Francisco in 1983. Abousefian has toured internationally, published literary works and audio recordings and written extensively for Armenian newspapers. She holds a Ph.D. in Literature and Philosophy from the M. Abeghyan Institute of Literature and has received honors, including Armenia’s Gold Medal of Honor (2010) and the 100th Anniversary Medal of the Armenian Genocide (2015)
