'People have a right to live in a clean environment and be healthy, to know what air they breathe and what soil they till,' says Alen Amirkhanian, director of the AUA Acopian Center for the Environment and AUA CRM.

For rural mining communities in Armenia, knowledge is power, and with the support of ONEArmenia, the American University of Armenia’s Center for Responsible Mining (AUA CRM) is hoping to bring invaluable knowledge to local communities. The two organizations have teamed up to raise funds that will allow AUA to purchase laboratory equipment that measures heavy metal contaminants in the environment.

Given Armenia’s small size, such toxic environmental issues has a higher impact on the population than other countries. The Armenian government needs to defend Armenia’s lands from abuse and exploitation.
Armenian officials could care less about Armenians who starve and barely have anything to place on a table. They count dollars donated to Armenian poor, and maybe, if at all, give 5% of what was donated. The rest of the money is taken by Serge and his mafia. All their candidates, everyone, even though they show support for the people and play against each other, they are all from the same mafia. Trust me, money rules in Armenia. Go to Armenia and see for yourself. You donate money to clean the environment? they’ll take it and buy themselves a Mercedes S500 class if not higher.
