Newly-Elected Patriarch of Turkey Lashes Back at his Armenian Critics
After giving a series of interviews to the Turkish press since his election on December 11, 2019, the new Armenian Patriarch of Turkey, Sahak II Mashalyan, responded to his Armenian critics on January 15, 2020, by issuing an official “Clarification” to Turkish-Armenian newspapers.

I wouldn’t be surprised as Sahak Mashalian and all his predecessors were part of a patriarchate created by the sultan himself to control the Armenian population. They have all been puppets from the beginning it shouldn’t come as a surprise! A research/article about this would give good light as a nice historical piece Harout.
“He (the Patriarch) should have known that the Turkish press often distorts the words of those they interview.” You should have known that too Mr. Sassounian. As for your advice to the Patriarch to avoid giving interviews toTurkish newspapers is quite simplistic, if not altogether childish.
What is he talking about “those of us who decided to stay in this country”. We did not have a choice to stay or leave in 1915. Patriarch Mashalian my ancestors were murdered. He is Patriarch because the Turkish state does not want a leader who fights for Armenian issues. Leaders who do die in a street like Hrant Dink. We as a people lack leadership. True leadership. We have a Vehapar in Echmiadzin who is also a leader in name. He does not represent us. He owns five buildings in downtown Yerevan and drives a Bentley. There are elderly in villages who lack food and medicines. It would be nice if he converted one of those buildings to a soup kitchen for the elderly. We can send our youth to the monastery to become priests. That will give them an education but it will not make them a CHRISTIAN. Being a Christian is a personal choice.
I think Patriarch Marshalian is a rational,educated, honest man who does not need any foreign teacher,advise and instruction from abroad.
Basoy, as a Turk you are naturally praising the anti-Armenian words of the Patriarch. This is the kiss of Judas, Basoy. I rest my case.
