The Hayastan All-Armenian Fund worldwide Telethon 2015 raised $10,378,465 in pledges and donations, which will be used to construct single-family homes for families in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabagh) who have five children or more and lack adequate housing. There are already 466 families identified in Artsakh who fit the criteria; 211 are known to be living in unacceptable housing conditions.
According to the program, priority will be given to low-income families, as well as the families of active duty officers of the armed forces, families of veterans of the Artsakh Liberation War, and to the survivors of soldiers who lost their lives defending Artsakh.
In 2015, the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund carried out multiple public-awareness and fundraising campaigns through telethons, concerts, and other fundraising events. The organization continues to accept donations and pledges toward this project.

Good news, indeed, and a nice collective rebuke to the regime in Armenia. This year’s results are even lower than last year’s ($12+ million), which itself was only half of the previous year’s results ($20+ million). The last time the results were this low (or lower) was in 2005, 10(!) years ago.

It looks like more and more Armenians around the world are losing patience with the illegitimate regime in Armenia, which is great news. We are not going to blindly send our hard-earned dollars to “Artsakh”, when Gyumri is still in ruins. And we are not going to unconditioanlly support the corrupt regime’s “projects” while Serzh and his circle are plundering the country. Nice job to our pro-democracy patriots, and keep up the good work.
As a critical thinker and a neutral observer, I strongly believe these are all unsubstantiated rumors blown out of proportion and spread around to sabotage all the critical work being done and projects implemented to build badly-needed infrastructure in Artsakh as well as providing housing and sanitation desperately needed to help the people there, our brothers and sisters who practically live in a war zone, to strengthen their roots despite the fact that their families and loved ones put their lives in danger on daily basis to defend, protect and nurture these liberated and sacred Armenian lands.
People who are in charge of implementing and overseeing these projects, among them many who have donated millions of dollars out of their own pockets and have given their time and effort to the fund-raising event, have not only reported the work being done and completed but they have also witnessed with their own eyes all the projects implemented.
Now ask yourselves, who should we believe here, those who make baseless blanket statements against this valuable annual event OR the people who are tirelessly involved in this event year-round and those who give up so much of their time and wealth to bring so much joy and hope, in their own limited capacities, to Artsakh residents and help build the homeland little by little?
Furthermore, often times the success of an event such as this year’s telethon, is not measured by how much money is raised but whether or not the amount of money raised accomplishes the goals set forth. The goal of this year’s telethon was to raise enough money to build 200 plus housing units for families with five or more children at $50,000 per housing unit. The money raised, about $10.5 million dollars (200 units * $50,000/unit) did exactly that!
P.S. I will be doubling my donation next year.
I am with you Vahagn. Next year let the Oligharcs of Armenia raise the money . we shouldn t send a penny to Armenia until Serj Sarkissian and his fascistic gangsters resign from the government.
Who is “we” ?
Nobody elected you or the mythical “we” to represent majority Armenians either in Armenia or Diaspora.
You don’t want to send a penny, don’t: nobody cares.
Clearly 10s of 1000s of patriotic Armenians who care about Armenia and Artsakh did.
And a dozen malcontent BarevaCadres can hallucinate about President Sargsyan, quote, “resigning” till the cows come home: yep, the President will “resign” all right, just as soon as pigs sprout wings and start flying.
Or, youse can join your BarevaLeader and go on a hunger strike until President of Republic of Armenia, Honorable Serj Sargsyan, “resigns”: that will work.
I don’t see any reason to blame the leadership for the low amount of donations, people don’t hold the Armenia Fund hostage because they don’t like the politics of a country no correlation, total conjecture and nonsensical. The same politicians were ruling in the high donation years, how can you explain that? If anything investment In Armenia continues strong both by Diasporan Armenians and business interests from around the world, averaging nearly half a billion a year. Check http://www.cia.gov for the facts on investment dollars.
[The same politicians were ruling in the high donation years, how can you explain that?]
It takes time for people to wake up. And for the regime’s propaganda to lose its force.
[If anything investment In Armenia continues strong both by Diasporan Armenians and business interests from around the world, averaging nearly half a billion a year. Check http://www.cia.gov for the facts on investment dollars.]
I did check the CIA site. Here are direct investment dollars to Armenia and its neighbors:
Armenia: $4 billion
Georgia: $12+ billion
Azerbaijan: $50+ billion
Investment to Armenia is strong? Georgia, which has no diaspora, has three times as much investment.
[people don’t hold the Armenia Fund hostage because they don’t like the politics of a country no correlation]
No correlation? Serzh and the Catholicos (himself an oligarch) are on the board of trustees. I am sure people see pretty strong connection between the fund and the regime.
Blessed be their homes . love
Armenia fund has become anachronic. It only fueled corruption in Armenia. Let the oligarchs pay their taxes like any other citizen of Armenia and let’s get over with these annual begging festivities…..
{let’s get over with these annual begging festivities…..}
You get over these annual, quote, “begging festivities…” if you like: no loss to the Armenian Nation.
Clearly you and the dozen malcontent friends of yours desperately spreading despair and defeatism are a tiny, tiny, tiny sour minority.
Clearly 10s of 1000s of patriotic Armenians from around the world contributed generously.
God bless the Armenian Nation.
Another solid Armenia Fund Telethon.
One that exceeded the goal of providing housing for Artsakh families with 5 or more children.
(God bless those heroic Armenian fathers and mothers: Armenian Nation needs more like you).
Let us take a look what the goal was: [This year’s Armenia Fund Telethon, which will air on November 26—Thanksgiving Day—will promote a campaign called “Our Home,” which will be the construction of single family homes for families in Artsakh who have 5 children or more and lack adequate housing. There are already 466 families identified in Artsakh who fit the criteria and 211 are known to live in unacceptable housing conditions.]*
The $10 million pledged is comfortably more than enough to construct 500*** homes. Thanks to all those who donated for the future of heroic Artsakh.
Now let us debunk the disinformation being spread by certain individuals who incongruously keep using the phrase “We” Armenians, while at the same time accusing Armenians of allegedly “occupying” (sic) their own ancestral homeland.
(Whaaaaat ???)
So this allegation is that supposedly there is some kind of negative correlation between the presidency of Honorable RoA President Sargsyan, and the amount of Telethon donations.
And supposedly, since there is allegedly no democracy in Armenia, worldwide Armenians are supposedly unhappy, and are supposedly not contributing to the Fund.
Ah hah. Sure.
Let’s take a look at facts and figures then, shall we.
As can be seen from the hard evidence below, donations go up and down, and up an down, from year to year.
Why ? who knows.
Correlation is not Causation, as they say.
TOTALS
Telethon 2004 $11.4 million
Telethon 2005 $ 7.7 million
Telethon 2006 $13.7 million
Telethon 2007 $15.3 million

Telethon 2011 $12.3 million

Telethon 2013 $22.7 million ($12.3 million from Russian-Armenian businessmen).
Telethon 2014 $12.4 million
TOTALS Minus one-time contributions from Russian-Armenians.
2004 President Kocharyan $11.4 million
2005 President Kocharyan $ 7.7 million
2006 President Kocharyan $13.7 million
2007 President Kocharyan $15.3 million
2008 President Sargsyan $35.0 million**
2009 President Sargsyan 15.9 million
2010 President Sargsyan $12.8 million (without Russian-Armenian contribution)
2011 President Sargsyan $12.3 million
2012 President Sargsyan $ 9.3 million (without Russian-Armenian contribution)
2013 President Sargsyan $10.4 million (without Russian-Armenian contribution)
2014 President Sargsyan $12.4 million
2015 President Sargsyan $10.4 million
Keep trying guys (….paging Mr. Ara Manoogian, paging Mr. Ara Manoogian,): maybe youse can find cause & effect between the presidency of Honorable Pres. Serj Sargsyan and the amount of annual snow fall in Yerevan.

[YEREVAN (Combined Sources)–The Hayastan All-Armenia Fund announced on Monday that about 120 donors from Armenia and Russia pledged close to $30 million to the fund, ahead of this year’s telethon on November 27.The pledges were made on Sunday during a dinner in Yerevan hosted by President Serzh Sarkisian, who also serves as the chairperson of Armenia Fund’s Board of Trustees.]
Well done Honorable President Sargsyan: $35 million did a lot of good for our people in RoA and NKR.
*** $20,000 per house estimate was arrived at from public sources of comparable single family building costs (actual cases) in Artsakh.

{“The Annual Armenia Fund Telethon generates about $20 million. More often than not, about 50% of that is donated by wealthy Russian-Armenians.”}
http://www.keghart.com/Editorial-Language-Pollution
“More often than not?” So, does that “50% Russian” thing apply to the 2014 and 2015? Because that would mean that the non-Russia portion of donations for those years were $6 million and $5 million, respectively: a steady decline, and a sharp decline compared to the 2013 figure of $10 million.
Or was the post on Keghart site a lie? So, which post is a disinformation, the anti-Diaspora diatribe on the Keghart one, or the pro-Serzh diatribe one on this site?
So, how much did non-Russia sources contribute in each year? Any sources to back it up?
{The $10 million pledged is comfortably more than enough to construct 500*** homes}
So, are the authorities going to return the extra money? They don’t want more than the “goal” amount? Why didn’t they tell us so we would not send more than necessary?
The truth is, the authorities would dream to get as much as they can. A decline in the donations is still a decline. Nice try to sugar-coat it.
-> $9.3 million -> $10.4 million -> $12.4 million -> $10.4 million.
Down, Up, Up, Down.
Clear ?
When a non-decline in donations is not a decline, it is not a decline. Let me know if it is not clear: we (meaning you) may have to go back to school (basic math), since I failed you last time, but due to my benevolent nature reluctantly graduated youse.
{Why didn’t they tell us so we would not send more than necessary?}
“We” (!) would not send more than necessary ?
I highly doubt you sent a dime.
Another desperate attempt to put a negative spin on a great effort by Armenians worldwide to repopulate Armenian Artsakh with its indigenous ethnos.
Say, weren’t you the one who claimed Armenian Artsakh allegedly belongs to Azerbaijan and is allegedly “occupied” by Armenians ?
My memory is not what it used to be: I could be wrong.
