Former Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Bureau Chairman Peno Tontian unexpectedly passed away on Mon., Dec. 15.
An engineer by profession, Tontian was always faithful to his Armenian identity and the ARF. He served the Armenian nation in various capacities—as a teacher, manager of the Hamazkayin Lebanon office, and Director of Aztag Daily newspaper and Vana Tsayn radio.
Tontian, a graduate of Beirut’s renowned Nshan Palandjian Djemaran, was a dedicated man, who often worked away from the limelight. During the Artsakh War and the 1988 earthquake, as well as the independence years of Armenia and Artsakh, Tontian worked tirelessly as a member of the ARF and as Bureau representative.
