Armenian Groups Call for Rally at French Senate

PARIS, France—The Coordinating Council of Armenian Organizations in France (CCAF) this week issued a statement calling on citizens to assemble in front of the French Senate on Jan. 23, in support of the bill criminalizing genocide denial. The French Senate is scheduled to convene and vote on the bill that day, starting at 2 p.m.

The CCAF expects a sizeable rally in opposition of the bill. “Faced with a propaganda campaign marked with hatred, and orchestrated by forces hostile to the bill, and by a street rally organized by the falsifiers of history, we call upon those citizens who stand by justice to denounce [genocide] denial, which kills its victims a second time around, and spreads hatred and fanaticism. No to denial, racism, and xenophobia!” read the statement. “Yes to a Republican law that protects human dignity, the victims, and surviving generations!”

The CCAF includes more than 40 member organizations, including the ARF.

The demonstration is scheduled to take place at 2 p.m. on Jan. 23, on Tournon St., facing the Senate.

  1. All individual Armenians and Armenian organizations around the world, beside Armenian organizations in France should join this call, as this Bill’s victory will be mile stone verdict against shameless Turkish government and their paid agents around the globe.

  2. If you know Arabic read it …How turks used Islam to kill Armenians…

  3. Sylva, I do not know Arabic. If possible that it be offered translated, there may be content to be used to good advantage beyond the present. Many thanks if you or another do translate it, if it’s not too great an excercise.

If you are in Armenia, your English is very impressive.

  4. This is shame of democratic traditions. It will be as collapse of French gavernance (it is compleately not related for citizen).
