ARF Bureau Calls for Enthusiastic Participation in Armenia Fund Efforts

Armenia Fund telethon to air Nov. 24

YEREVAN—The Bureau of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation issued a communiqué on Nov. 16 calling on all Armenians to take part in fundraising activities of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund. Below is the translated text of the announcement:

Armenia Fund telethon will air on Nov. 24.

The Hayastan All-Armenian Fund has already begun its annual fundraising efforts in Armenia and the Diaspora. It will culminate in the telethon that is scheduled to take place on Nov. 24 in the United States.

This year’s proceeds, just like last year, will be allocated toward the development of Armenia’s border villages and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.

Pan-Armenian institutions such as the Armenia Fund, regardless of their immediate and specific mission have a deep symbolic significance. Their existence and stability are the real proof of Armenian unity and is the unifying force for various segments of all Armenians.

At the same time, it is also important to emphasize the irrefutable fact that the strengthening of the Republics of Armenia and Artsakh is a pan-Armenian aspiration of our nation. The border villages of Armenia and the Armenians of Artsakh are the guarantors of the security and development of all of Armenia. Thus, investing in those regions achieves a pan-Armenian objective.

Hence, we call on all Armenians to take part in great numbers and generously in the fundraising effort of the Armenia Fund.

  1. Find out before donating:

1- Is Pension and Social Security income from United States taxable
in Armenia? If so what is the tax rate? Are banks permitted to charge
fees on such monthly income from non-commercial sources?
2- When a family moves to Armenia, do they need to pay import or
customs fees on their household belongings and cars shipped to Armenia?
3- If a repatriate purchase a parcel of land in Armenia, who do they
contact to make sure that the area is equipped with the necessary
infrastructure for drinking water, sewer system, electricity, gas, etc?
Who is responsible for such infrastructure amenities?
4- Is there an agency or section in the Diaspora Ministry that helps
people who plan to settle in Armenia with questions and logistics, so
that they are not victimized by bribery, graft and other financial
    fraud?
Enthusiastic participation based on accurate knowledge.
    Thank you,

    Svetlana Swanson

  2. I have received an E Mail on the Western Regions Hayastan All Armenian Fund that some corruption is involved on whether Funds have been going to those regions in Armenia & Artsakh have been full filled down thru the years.  Allso are they affilliated with the “Armenian Fund USA”. I must know before I can donate.

  3. If one is inclined to give, one will give no matter what.
If one is inclined not to give – there are always excuses.
Undoubtedly some of the money disappears. There is some inefficiency, some incompetence. Some sticky fingers.
Just as undoubtedly, vital infrastructure projects have been completed on the ground: indisputable fact. Infrastructure projects pay dividends for generations and enrich the country.

How much money are you talking about donating – $20, $50, $100 ?
How many times this year have you blown aggregate $100, $200 on useless stuff ?
How much will be wasted  on throwaway Christmas gifts or trinkets this year ?

Do you guys really think there would widespread graft from the fund and it could be kept secret ?
Check the  organizations on the board: you guys really believe widespread corruption could be kept hidden from every one of those ? Somebody would not raise a stink by now if there was hard evidence ?

  4. Ara Manoogian speaks about himself in the third person on his own website, and in delusion believes he is a [direct descendant] of the “Bagratuni Royal Family.”

He claims on his website to be a “human rights” activist and head of his “family foundation.” He fails to mention what his personal accomplishments or credentials are. Educated? Unemployed?

I think there isn’t much, otherwise he would have milked it on his personal website.

Sorry, but falsely bashing a non-profit aimed at helping poor people through infrastructure development does not make you look good, but worse.

And yes, I do feel giving to Armenia Fund WILL help those people unlike anything this guy puts on his website.

Junk Food, Junk bonds and now “Junk Activism” – strong but proper words for him.

  5. I would be more than happy to answer all your questions and concerns in person if need be. Please send me your contact information so we can arrange to talk face to face. In the meanwhile, I would suggest that you read the entire white paper “To Donate Or Not To Donate,” which you can find on my site http://www.thetruthmustbetold.com. I believe it will answer most of the question you present in your comment, thus saving us time when we meet.
