Homenetmen Holds 36th Convention

WOODSIDE, N.Y.—Chapters of the Homenetmen Eastern Regional USA gathered in Woodside from May 14-15 for an extra-ordinary 36th Representative’s Convention.

Along with representatives elected from the ten chapters, Convention attendees included members of the Homenetmen Eastern Regional Executive Committee, representatives from the regional athletic and scouting committees, Vahram Danielian from the Homenetmen Central Executive, and Hrayr Baronian representing the ARF Central Executive.

The representatives selected Hratch Mesrobian and Vahe Tanashian as chairpersons, and Sosse Beujekian and Shant Jamgotchian as meeting secretaries. The Convention discussed and voted on proposed Homenetmen by-law changes; 100th anniversary Armenian Genocide commemorative events, to be held in 2015; Homenetmen’s 95th anniversary in 2013; a four-year report from the Central Executive Committee; a four-year report from the Eastern Regional Executive Committee; the organization’s website; Marzig magazine; strategic planning; and suggestions for the Central Executive.

The following members were elected to represent the Homenetmen Eastern Region during the Homenetmen World Convention in Yerevan from Sept. 5-10: Hratch Mesrobian, Vahe Tanashian, Elizabeth Dramgotchian, and Yeran Simonian. Bedig Dervartanian will attend as a representative of the Homenetmen Regional Executive.

The Homenetmen Eastern Regional Executive Committee extends its appreciation to the New York chapter for hosting the two-day Convention, all chapter representatives and guests present for their participation, and all members for providing valuable input and feedback.
