ARS to Hold Youth Connect Program at BU

The Armenian Relief Society (ARS) Eastern Region announced this week that it will be holding its second Youth Connect Program (YCP)—educational seminar for college-age students—on Sat., Feb. 12 in Boston University’s (BU) Student Union.

The name says it all. Through Youth Connect, the ARS seeks to provide an arena where students can come together, share ideas and information, and learn about opportunities to enhance the Armenian experience.

From internships, both in the U.S. and Armenia, to humanitarian assistance, to cultural and educational opportunities, students will learn about programs available to them through different Armenian organizations.

The program will take place Feb. 12 in the BU Student Union, 775 Commonwealth Ave., Boston, Mass., from 9:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The program is designed and implemented by Prof. Asbed Kotchikian from Bentley University who, in the past, has had extensive experience in developing and directing youth related programs in the U.S., Armenia, and the Middle East. The program will include a lecture on Armenian architecture as well as a round table discussion featuring prominent academics and scholars from the greater Boston area.

Participants will also get a chance to have some fun together on Saturday evening at a social event.

The application fee is $25, and covers lodging for one night, food, and local transportation for all participants in Boston.

The Youth Connect Program is open to all college students 18-24 years old from any location interested in learning more about history and culture, and its relevance in today’s society.

To learn more about the YCP and how to apply, contact the ARS Eastern USA office by calling (617) 926-3801 or emailing arseastus@aol.com. The application deadline is Jan. 24, 2011. Space is limited.
