AGBU Young Professionals of Boston Back in Action

WATERTOWN , Mass.—The AGBU Young Professionals of Boston had a busy spring 2010 with a mixer to celebrate the original Armenian Independence Day and a professional networking event. Several upcoming events are also planned for the fall.

On May 22, the Boston YPs hosted an Armenian Independence Day party at local nightclub Felt. Young Professionals from Boston as well as New York attended this 2010 YP Boston kickoff. Guests enjoyed appetizers, cocktails, dancing, billiards, and several raffles with prizes including Red Sox tickets and Basha Café gift cards. YP Boston chair Hripsime Mkrtchyan and treasurer Natalie Maserejian served as event co-chairs and organized a successful night of celebration and fun. “The Armenian Independence Day Party was a great way to incorporate an important part of our history with an important night for YP Boston—our relaunch as an active YP chapter,” said Mkrtchyan. “We had a wonderful turnout and look forward to hosting many more events this year.”

On June 23, YP Boston presented Armenian Speed Networking at the AGBU Center in Watertown. Committee member Nicole Meregian served as event chair. Attendees came prepared with business cards and résumés for an evening of professional networking and socializing. Refreshments were also provided so that the Young Professionals could relax after a long day of work. Publicist Laura Michael spoke briefly to attendees saying, “On behalf of the YP Boston Steering Committee, thank you for attending Armenian Speed Networking. It is our hope that many of you make professional connections tonight that will help you in your future endeavors.”

YP Boston has several upcoming events planned for the remainder of 2010, including a Sept. 30 Happy Hour at the Liberty Hotel’s Fashionably Late featuring designer Samuel Vartan (details below); a presentation on Oct. 6 by Mira Antonyan of the FAR Children’s Center in Yerevan; “Helping Hayastan,” a fair taking place in November for Young Professionals to learn how they can support Armenia and Karabagh; and lastly a YP Boston Christmas party.
