Peter Hovnanian won an Academy Oscar for Best Auctioneer with his lively and engaging stage presence and his art for a ready tongue. His generosity in volunteering his time and talent for the Armenian Sisters Academy’s largest annual fundraiser was appreciated by all, and exemplified his skill at enticing and raising bids for the school’s benefit. Nominees for Best Costume Design were pursued by volunteer paparazzi who snapped photo after photo of glamorous attendees as they posed between two large Oscar-like statues. Winners were plentiful in this category for their flair for fashion. POSH committee members, family donors, and business donors who provided their time, talent, and donations for the event dominated the Best Supporting Role awards. The colorful and creative beverage concoctions and delectable finger foods added to the radiant ambiance and served as the highlight of the red carpet party.

Signs adorned the entry way and silent auction area acknowledging this year’s two red carpet event sponsors, Mark Hoplamazian and Rachel Kohler, and Peter and Irene Vosbikian, and their families, for their generous donations of $5,000 or more each. The numerous other sponsors were acknowledged in the elegant red and white booklets distributed to each attendee.

Sponsorship of POSH is critical to its overall success and contributed to a sizeable portion of the evening’s profits. The Academy Award-winning POSH event confirmed that at a time when our economy has forced us to “tighten our belts,” our community is still adept at effectively pooling our resources to benefit our beloved school—and doing it with style.
