On Sun., Oct. 28, the south Florida community held a fundraising luncheon for Syrian-Armenian relief.
The luncheon was organized by the South Florida “Rosdom” Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Chapter. Steve Iskendarian gave opening remarks, which were followed by a video presentation about the civil war in Syria by Bared Maronian. Pictures of the recent destruction in Syria were also shown.
Community members Ani Vartanian, Kaliana Maronian, and Tatiana Iskenderian gave a cultural presentation of recitations before the fundraising portion of the event.
By the end of the program, the south Florida Armenian community had raised $12,000.
The Committee for the Syrian Armenian Relief Fund included, from the ARF, Richard Baronian, Vahram Danielian, and Vasken Lakhoian; from the ARS, Mary Andonian and Adeline Alexanian; from the Homenetmen, Ara and Varant Jabroian; and Asho Kantardjian. Members of the Armenian Relief Society (ARS) chapter had given their donations during the ARS Convention, and had also gifted all of the proceeds of their Halloween party to the Syrian Armenian Fund.
Danielian thanked all the participants and the committee for a job well done, and noted again the importance of the relief fund.
