PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The Providence Homenetmen held a Thanksgiving dinner in November 2022 to raise money for Armenian soldiers wounded during the 2020 Artsakh War. The event was called “Thank you Armenian Soldiers” and was organized by the Providence Scout Council, who served a delicious chicken dinner to more than 125 people.

A total of $7,000 was raised from the event, along with additional donations from the Providence community. The chapter executive added to that sum for a grand total of $9,000 for Armenian wounded soldiers.

Eight Providence Homenetmen scouts, along with other eastern region scouts, participated in the 12th Pan-Homenetmen Jamboree held in Pyuragan, Armenia on July 21-30, 2023. Prior to the Jamboree, on July 18, the Providence scouts, along with chair of the Providence Scout Council Hasmig Parsadanyan, went to the AYF Armenia office to meet the soldiers and personally deliver the donations to them.

Armenian Relief Society of Armenia chairperson Maro Kechichian and advisor Hamesd Beugekian had organized the meeting and identified 30 soldiers who received the donations. The soldiers told the scouts stories of their experiences during and after the war and expressed gratitude for the generous donation of $300 they each received.
