Sarkisian, Hollande Meet in Warsaw

Sarkisian Expresses Gratitude for Hollande’s ‘Consistent, Important Role and Support on All Issues, Which Are Vital for Armenia’

WARSAW, Poland (A.W.)—Armenian President Serge Sarkisian met with French President François Hollande in Warsaw on June 9. During their meeting, Sarkisian expressed gratitude for Hollande’s “consistent, important role and support on all issues, which are vital for Armenia” and stressed that the people of Armenia take pride in having special relations with France, according to a press statement released by the office of the president of Armenia.

At the meeting, the two spoke extensively about the Nagorno-Karabagh (Artsakh/NKR) conflict. Sarkisian noted France’s important role as one of the co-chairs of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group in the process of a peaceful resolution of the conflict and thanked Hollande for his constant personal efforts. Both Sarkisian and Hollande also stressed the importance of the “unconditional implementation” of the provisions secured in the declarations adopted in Vienna and Saint Petersburg.

Sarkisian also expressed his gratitude for Hollande’s personal contribution to the adoption of the resolution by France’s National Assembly, which criminalizes the denial of the Armenian Genocide.

Sarkisian is on a working visit to Poland, to participate in a meeting of the heads of state and government of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) member and non-member states dedicated to the “Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan.” Sarkisian met with United States Secretary of State John Kerry in Warsaw on July 8, to discuss the resolution of the Artsakh conflict.
