Unfortunatly I cannot read the names on this list, I found a very old picture of my father & mother before they came to France & got married in Lyon, this picture is stamped “DERMANIAN Freres Alep Syrie
perhaps they were some of the few lucky Armenians who were saved from
this terrible genocide
Thank you for providing this list of refugees.
My own father was at one point one of them. Unfortunately, I cannot read Armenian to see if his name or other of his sisters were there.
My grandfather was George Hovagimian. Can you please look him up for me. We know he was a refugee. We think everyone else in the family perished. We have very little information on his childhood. He would not talk about it. Any small amount of information would be greatly appreciated by my family.
According to family stories relatives on my father’s side were early deportees (May 1915) to Aleppo from Sis and Adana. They were saved from further deportation by the intercession of Cemal Pasha who had known my grandfather from the time Cemal had been Governor in Adana after the 1909 massacre there. I cannot read the script in the lists, but it would be great to know if they are listed. Family names are: Manoog Bakmazian and Gokderelian or Geukderelian. Thank you very much.

What’s your father and his sisters’ (sur)names? I can look them up.
Maybe it was ‘Derounian Frères’- Armenian Photographers of Aleppo…

I see noone by the surname of “Hovagimian” in the list, but maybe other AW readers have a sharper eye…
