WORCESTER, Mass.—On Sun., Oct. 26, around 100 people gathered for the Worcester “Aram” Gomideh’s celebration of ARF Day at Val’s Restaurant in Holden, Mass.
Following the opening prayer by Very Rev. Fr. Sahag Yemishian, George Aghjayan offered opening remarks on behalf of the Gomideh. Aghjayan read the oath of the ARF to remind people of its seriousness and noted that five new Ungers had taken that oath in Worcester over the past two years.
Master of ceremonies Hovig Charchaflian noted how the decentralized structure of the ARF has made it strong and adaptable throughout its 124 years of existence.
The keynote address was offered by Khajag Mgrdichian, the former editor of the Hairenik newspaper and co-founder of www.yerakouyn.com. Mgrdichian detailed the wide breadth of ARF activities around the world and supplied some of the background to current events in the Middle East.
The Arev Folk Ensemble then performed a number of folk songs as well as revolutionary ballads.
