Barsoumian to Assume Editorship of Armenian Weekly

WATERTOWN, Mass.—Armenian Weekly assistant editor Nanore Barsoumian will assume the editorship of the newspaper, the Hairenik Association announced today.

After a transition period of several months, Barsoumian will take on responsibilities of editor on Sept. 1, as editor Khatchig Mouradian leaves Boston to dedicate more time to teaching and research.

Mouradian, who has served as Weekly editor since 2007, will continue his involvement with the paper, writing a monthly column.

Barsoumian has served as assistant editor of the Weekly since 2010. Her writings focus on human rights, politics, poverty, environmental and gender issues. She has reported from Armenia, the Nagorno Karabagh Republic, Javakhk, and Turkey. She earned her B.A. degree in Political Science and English from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.

As Khatchig Mouradian brought this organ to a new threshold in the electronic era, we are confident it will continue its editorial mission under Nanore Barsoumian. All the best to both of you.
