Tashjian Holds Landscapes Exhibition

From Sat., Aug. 6 through Sept. 6, Santa Fe artist Richard H. Tashjian, a native from New England, will showcase his paintings at the Johnsons of Madrid Fine Art Gallery in Madrid, N.M.

The village of Embudo Velarde along the river Rio Grande. Watercolor (12x16)

The plain-air watercolor paintings are of areas throughout New Mexico, namely Dixon, Diablo Canyon, Jemez Mountains, Nambe, and Black Mesa on the way to Los Alamos.

Two paintings, in particular, remind Tashjian of when he painted on location in Armenia in the 1980’s: One is of the Jemez Mts., which remind him of Mt. Arakats in Armenia, and the second is of Embudo Velarde along the river Rio Grande, which reminds him of the Hrazdan River in Armenia.

Tashjian’s palette is clean and crisp, like the New Mexico air clearly depicted in each of his works.
