Letter: Armenian Night at Pops

Dear Editor:

Any Armenian who missed “Armenian Night at the Pops” on June 16 certainly missed out on an opportunity of a lifetime. The 60th anniversary featuring Hasmik Papian was truly an inspiration for anyone looking to hear the best Armenian music ever contrived.

Extended applause must be rendered to the Friends of Armenian Culture Society (FACS) for an outstanding job in preparing for this extravaganza.

It’s one thing when Armenians hear their own music and another when it is introduced to a gallery of non-Armenians who have no inkling about what our music might sound like.

Hasmik Papian reached out to her audience like the true diva she’s become, mingled with the crowd at a post-concert reception, and projected herself amiably.

Kudos to FACS for making our musical history that much more provocative over these past 60 years with many more successful venues to follow.

  1. I agree!  I was there and it was a WONDERFUL evening.  I hope FACS continues with this wonderful tradition for at least another 60 years.  If you haven’t ever attended you need to put FACS Armenian Night at Pops on your to do list for next year.  They have never disappointed me!
