‘Hye Tea’ in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—It has been said that over a good cup of coffee or tea, great ideas are exchanged and wonderful relationships are formed. This was clearly demonstrated on Sun., Jan. 16, when over 30 ladies attended a special “Hye Tea” hosted by the Armenian Relief Society (ARS) Providence “Ani” Chapter at the home of Pauline Getzoyan and her family.

The event was held to inform all in attendance about the mission, function, and activities of the ARS, not only locally, but nationally and internationally. Beginning with a table full of tasty afternoon treats, accompanied by a variety of teas and coffee, the “Hye Tea” concluded with a presentation by Karen Pilla, chapter president. Pilla explained the primary mission of the ARS, along with an outline of local events and its humanitarian efforts. Brochures from the organization were distributed to everyone. As a result of this event, a dozen new members joined the ARS “Ani” Chapter.

At the chapter’s March 22 meeting, almost all of the new ungerouhis took the oath of membership to the ARS. Pilla administered the oath in a candlelit ceremony in front of the chapter’s banner. Following the ceremony, the entire gathering enjoyed pastries and coffee, as well as congratulations and good wishes all around. The “Ani” Chapter wholeheartedly welcomes the new members and their ideas and input throughout the coming years.
