Yesterday
I called you
when it was still today
with the fear
of tomorrow
tormenting my mind
with the sorrow
of your absence
I call you each day
seeking your presence
in yesterday
and countless other
yesterdays
when days were young
on the highway
of time and nights
were brighter
with candles burning
at both ends
and two hearts
beating for the day
forsaking all tomorrows

my call rings
unanswered
with hollow echoes
