Hai Guin to Hold 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee

Beginning in 1935 with the singular mission of providing scholarships to academically deserving Armenian students, eight dedicated women set a course that is still actively pursued today. Each year, on the Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend, the Hai Guin Scholarship Association sponsors a lively and well-attended event in support of its scholarship endeavors, and this year is no different. On Sat., May 8, the Hai Guin Scholarship Association will both acknowledge its scholars and celebrate its 75th anniversary with the Scholarship Diamond Jubilee.

Guests will be entertained at the Burlington Marriott on May 8, as Hot Spot Productions provides comedy numbers, skits, and rousing songs, always tastefully done. Music from the 40s, 50s, 60s, and today will be featured in the live show, which includes performers and musicians seen at such places as Christine’s Show Club in Dennis, Quincy Center Dinner Theatre, Rof Mar Diplomat Club, Montvale Plaza Dinner Theatre, and many local clubs and organizations. It’s non-stop entertainment with something for everyone.

This year, five exceptional Diamond Jubilee scholarship recipients will be honored: Maral Balayan (Boston University), Christa Bazarian (Suffolk University), Krystal Doulbakian (Brandeis University), Migirdich Kassabian (North Shore Community College), and Victoria Sarkissian (Massachusetts College of Art and Design).

Community members can support the Hai Guin Scholarship Association—and forward the educational pursuits of talented local Armenian students—by attending the fun-filled afternoon with family and friends.

The committee has been hard at work to make this year’s event as special as a glittering diamond in commemoration of the 75th anniversary. In addition to a wonderful lunch and great entertainment, co-chairs Marge Atamian and Carolyn Haroutunian are planning some unique offerings to pique your interests. And, as always, a great silent auction with some exciting gifts will make you want to bid high.
