NEW YORK—Leaders of the Armenian National Committees (ANC) of New York and New Jersey recently organized an inaugural census meeting and met with partnership specialist Ryan Kim to engage and prepare Armenian Americans for the 2010 United States Census.
In the coming weeks, the ANCA Eastern Region will look to team up with other community leaders of various Armenian organizations to create a Complete Count Committee (CCC), which will be responsible for developing and implementing a plan to ensure that Armenians make their voices heard in 2010.
“I am excited by this wonderful opportunity to mobilize our community and get counted so we can leverage future resources,” said ANC of NJ chair Kim Arzoumanian.
The U.S. Census is fast, easy, and safe. Conducted every 10 years, census data are used to distribute Congressional seats to states, to make decisions about what community services to provide, and to distribute $300 billion in federal funds to local, state, and tribal governments each year.
