Land Blessing Held in Detroit

DETROIT, Mich.—On Oct. 21, the Armenian Community Center (ACC) of Greater Detroit held a land blessing ceremony in Novi Michigan. The ACC had acquired this 10-acre land in December, which will be the future home of the new Armenian Community Center. A preliminary conceptual plan was also distributed to the attendees. An estimated 250 people were present at the event.

Archbishop Oshagan Choloyan, Prelate of the Eastern Prelacy, presided over the land blessing services. Angele Manoogian represented the ARF Central Committee. The guest speaker for the event was Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), a strong supporter of the Armenian Genocide Resolution, who talked about the contributions Armenians have made in Metro Detroit and all across the world.

“I was honored to join church leaders and members of our Armenian-American community for this land blessing ceremony,” Stabenow said. “Novi will be a wonderful new home for the community center’s important educational and cultural events that are part of Michigan’s rich and diverse cultural heritage.”
