Former Los Angeles Clipper Mike Taylor to Join Homenetmen Lebanon

BEIRUT, Lebanon (A.W.)—Former Los Angeles Clippers point guard Mike Taylor will sign with Homenetmen Lebanon’s basketball team of the professional Lebanese Basketball League. The announcement was made on Homenetmen Lebanon Basketball’s official fan page on Oct. 6.

Born in 1986, Taylor played three seasons for Chipola College (2004-06) and Iowa State University (2006–07), leading the latter team in scoring with 16 points per game.

During 2007–08 season, he played for the Idaho Stampede of the National Basketball League (NBA) Development League (D-Leauge), averaging 14.5 points per game in 39 games. In 2008, he was drafted 55th overall in the NBA draft by the Portland Trail Blazers, becoming the first player in NBA history to be drafted out of the D-League. He was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers on draft night in exchange for a future second-round draft pick, and signed with the team on July 15. On March 25, 2009, he scored an NBA career high 35 points at Madison Square Garden versus the New York Knicks.

After playing professionally for a number of teams in Europe, Taylor was acquired by the Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA D-League in 2013. Since 2015, he has played for Lebanon’s Al Mouttahed Tripoli.
