  1. Thank you for the informative data. My conclusions are:

    1. As Americans, our education system is sorely lacking in teaching 20th century world history.
    2. As Armenians, we have not done enough to champion our cause.

  2. American college students who have not had Holocaust education in high school (high schools in many states) do not know much about Hitler or the Holocaust. Those that had high-school Holocaust education (NY State, New Jersey) do know. Do high schools teach about the Armenian Genocide?

  3. take the turks to a human rights world recognized court, so much easier just like what they did to the nazis and serbs.

  4. I disent. Americans of today are not well informed about much. 30 years ago most Freshmen could not locate France on a map. That 1 in 3 knows enough to say yes to a leading question about the AG means we have max impact. Thanks educators. And – hold your nose – thanks Kim Kardashian.

  5. 35% is impressive for America, a country which is very ignorant about the outside world.

  6. We need an international organization like B’nai B’rith, fully funded and staffed with young Armenian scholars in mass communications and history. We have to be in the news at every event. It is a little ineffective having a platoon of people always ready to defend our current president every time he is criticized or under attack on this forum. Energies would have been better spent if we had those young wolves disseminating every bit of Armenian news to non-Armenians, and defending our national causes at every bit of attack by our enemies on prime time national TV, radio and printed media. Granted, media circles are controlled by dark forces that are not friendly to Armenians. But we have to start with putting up the international organizational first. It is a must and it’s never too late. Running a documentary concerning Armenians once or twice a year on PBS is definitely not enough.

  7. Actually, 35 per cent is not a bad figure given America’s degenerated educational system and the level of zombification of the population by the mass media. If average Americans are required to name the capitals of Canada or Mexico—their two neighbor states, I fear the percentage could be lower than 35.

  8. @John,
Very interesting point, and I can attest to that. About two years ago I was having lunch @ Golden Corral restaurant in ,Waco, Texas ,roughly 130 miles north of Dallas. Two employees came storming out of the kitchen, attempting to solve their dispute, one of them hollered @ the manager asking, ” Hey Linda, what is the capital of ,Washington, DC?” As if the question was not embarrassing enough, the lady manager,Linda, went on to answer the question, she replied, ” uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…..” trying to figure out the answer. So, naturally not withstanding the show of stupidity being displayed by these clowns, I piped in and said to the manager ,” Excuse me, Ms. Manager, save yourself further embarrassment, but Washington,DC. is our nation’s capital.” Unfortunately, people like them are everywhe throughout, the United States. However, here’s the unfortunate part, these are the same type of Nincompoops who are running our country. That is scary.
