ARF Calls for Restraint, Re-Engagement in Turkish-Kurdish Peace Talks

ARF 1The following statement was released after the Aug. 10 extraordinary plenary session of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Bureau, convened in Yerevan.

The Armenian Revolutionary Federation is greatly concerned about the Turkish government’s warmongering politics that has been once again adopted vis-à-vis the Kurdish people.

Instead of continuing the peace negotiations proposed by the Kurdish leadership, the Turkish government—dissatisfied with the latest parliamentary elections—is waging a war against the Kurdish people under the pretense of launching military operations against the Islamic State (ISIS). This move will inevitably lead to the persecution of all peoples in Turkey, human rights abuses, and will hinder the process of Turkey’s democratization.

Considering the importance of the peaceful coexistence of all nations and states in the region and in order to prevent regional crises and further losses of human life, we call for restraint, avoidance of the dangerous and adventurous path, and re-engagement in peace negotiations.

  1. Hello ,
Caution should be exercise so we don’t sucked in to their military engagements. Past history with these parties was harmful to Armenian people. We don’t want that history repeats again , we have now goverment of Republic of Armenia , our priority is protect , defend Armenia and Artshak and other place where Armenian interest is. Enemy is always will be our enemy , never thrust these people , they don’t want peaceful solution to their problems. Never again never.

  2. Turkey had no right attacking the Kurds in Syria & Iraq when their main job was to go after the IS Rebels. The Turks attacked the Kurds to weaken them from getting an Independent Kurdistan which they deserve since their are over 30 million Kurds living in four countries which are Turkey, Iraq, Syria, & Iran. Again, the world powers should be backing up the Kurds and the U.S. does nothing to help them.
