  1. ” No state or international organization (aside from Turkey) even deems the YPG and YPJ as terrorist organizations and no state has come out in explicit support for Turkey’s operation”. Unfortunately, this statement is not true, Russia gave the Green light for Turkey to attack by withdrawing all Russian forces from the area so that to allow Turks to attack. The Kurds, like Armenians are again betrayed by the Imperial power. Also why is US allowing this attack. After all the Kurds were their allies……

  2. They have done it before, no one is listening to the pre genocide cries for help, but you will hear them loud and clear condemning it when the dirty deed is done. The world is bigoted and biased when it comes to minority ethnicities in the Middle East.

  3. I agree, perhaps not in those terms. The Rojava experiment is meaningful for the whole world. The world is responding to some extent, and the SDF and affiliates are stronger than generally realized. They are also politically sophisticated. The attack from Turkey should be considered in a longer history of racist oppression. We live in a critical moment of history.

  4. Thank you, Garen, for this excellent article. Such research and viewpoints are sadly missing on (Armenian) forums.

  5. The Kurds (once again) made a serious error in judgment by refusing requests from the Russian and Syrian governments if for no other reason than the fact that they are trying to claim lands which are recognized to be part of Syrian territory. Perhaps they calculated that since the USA is in Syria already, and Turkey is a NATO “ally”, the US will stop any attacks from Turkey.

The fact remains that even though two superpowers are now entrenched in Syria, Russia has the upper hand, and nothing can be really done without Russia’s approval. Syria has pledged to liberate every last centimeter of Syria, and that remains to be seen. Of course, Russia could have stopped anyone from entering Syria as well, but that might have meant war which it seems Russia is trying to avoid while still helping Syria recover. The Kurds are probably better off requesting autonomy under Syrian control, and if they want ‘freedom’ they should start in Turkey. At any rate all the dirty politics that this world has to offer has been in Syria these past years.

  6. Armenian and Kurdish peoples are brothers, we will gain! Thats a wonderfull article, congraculations!

  7. Armenians are kind to Yezidis but Kurds, I think not. Let’s not forget about their complicity in the AG. I venture to think that they are paying the price for that now.
But, Kurds aren’t Turks and that says volumes. The US should support them as a quid pro quo for fighting Isis. But, the US doesn’t care about justice of that nature. It has weaved such a web of international machinations that put it in a position where they have to call Turks spitting in their face rain and so they’ll stand by and watch these international criminals do what they do best.

  8. Sorry to say, Kurds were very instrumental in the raping and theft and murder of the Armenian nation. The ONLY reason they have come clean is because they were next on the Turkish chopping block and have been since. NEVER forget this. Our only friends should be ourselves..

  9. As an Armenian who’s relatives were massacred by the Turks and their Kurdish stooges i can only say too bad…the kurds should have known better, again. that’s all.

  10. The Kurds have apologised for the involvement of Kurdish units in the Armenian genocide. Their ethnically pluralist and democratic stance today is surely worth supporting? In contrast, the Turkish state has never apologised and indeed has made speaking the truth about the genocide a crime. I’m sure the last thing Erdogan wants is a united front of Armenians, Kurds, Assyrians, Yazidis and others against him.
