  1. Armenia is moving towards a more modern, democratic world. This is a first step about gender equality but Armenian still has a long way to go. A democratic country is the only way to build a modern and thriving society. annie

  2. Long overdue. I guess better late than never.
The next question is whether or not the police and the courts will enforce this law. Hope springs eternal.

  3. Finally. A step in the right direction. Domestic violence was a dark blemish.
The issue now is whether the law will be implemented and enforced.
    Hopefully it will.

  4. So proud to see this development. Domestic Violence prevention is an essential service of government because protecting the framework of society starts with the family. Abused husbands, wives and children need protection for a community to grow. Can there be abuses? Of course, in California false accusations occur all the time. There are built in presumptions in the law that protect abused people. For example, if you prove domestic violence there is a presumption regarding custody of children, and also regarding spousal support. Those presumptions, however, serve a purpose. From the standpoint of the terrorized, intervention is what is the saving grace. Note however, sometimes the abused are fearful. For example, in families if the breadwinner is kicked out of the home…. guess who cries and suffers? Humans aren’t perfect and no law can meet every situation. However, recognition of the problem provides awareness, communication and marks sophistication and advanced leadership for Armenia. Way to go!!!

  5. Great accomplishment and long due for a country that is in the European continent and aspires modern Europeans values. Tsarukian is a total idiot and an embarrassment for Armenia.

  6. Fantastic and finally! Let’s keep moving forward to make
Armenia safe for all citizens especially those most
vulnerable simply because they lack position and power.
All deserve to live with dignity.

  7. “A mans job is to protect women and children”. We all know this is true, so grateful to those who worked to create the legal framework that acknowledges this in Armenia.
